The purpose of this guide is to provide RSC faculty with resources that will advance understanding of generative artificial intelligence and support its ethical use in teaching and learning. The RSC Ad Hoc Committee on Generative AI will update this guide periodically with links to new research and resources on this rapidly evolving topic.

The term "AI" refers to the ability of machines and computers to perform tasks that would normally require human intelligence. "Generative AI" is a step forward in the development phase. Instead of just reacting to data input, the system takes in data and then uses predictive algorithms (a set of step-by-step instructions) to create original content.
